MMRY Installment Update

  • First Installment: The first installment of ₹10,000 was provided to 15.6 million women beneficiaries to help them start their businesses.
  • Expanding Beneficiaries: The government plans to add 2.5 million more eligible women, bringing the total selected beneficiaries to 18.1 million. In total, 19.9 million women applied, but only 18.1 million were selected.
  • Second Installment: The state government will now disburse another ₹10,000 to all eligible women beneficiaries. Among 18.1 million eligible women, 4 million with approved business plans will receive up to ₹2 lakh to grow their businesses.
Bihar government is committed to extend assistance to women under the MMRY to make them economically independent. Women engaged in agriculture, dairy, or other small businesses are expected to benefit the most.

MMRY Budgetary Provision

The MMRY is one of Bihar's most ambitious and popular schemes. The second supplementary budget of ₹91,000 crore, presented in December 2025 by the new NDA government, allocated ₹21,000 crore specifically for MMRY.
Himanshu Sharma, CEO of the Jeevika programme (Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society), said: "The second installment of up to ₹2 lakh will be given to eligible women and small groups who have shown promising business models. Disbursements will start from April in a phase-wise manner."

  • Business viability for expansion in sectors like agriculture, stitching, or manufacturing
Based on this evaluation, eligible beneficiaries will be selected for the second installment. The second installment may vary depending on business potential:
  • ₹20,000 to ₹1 lakh or more for conventional businesses
  • Up to ₹2 lakh for enterprises with high growth potential
  • Support for small groups to start larger ventures, like cloth stitching centers or spice manufacturing units, which can generate more employment
