Objective of Nanda Gaura Yojana

The Nanda Gaura Yojana has been launched to support and empower girl children in Uttarakhand. The main objectives of the scheme are:
  • To encourage institutional delivery
  • To prevent gender discrimination
  • To promote education of girl children
  • To reduce female foeticide
  • To support higher education after Class 12
  • To provide financial security to economically weaker families
The scheme directly transfers financial assistance into the beneficiary's bank account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).

Financial Assistance (Installment Details)

Under the scheme, financial support is provided in two installments per girl child:

Important Conditions

1) First Installment (At Birth)
  • Girl must be born in a government/private hospital or ANM center.
  • Application must be submitted within 6 months of birth.
  • Benefit available for maximum two girls per family.
2) Second Installment (After Class 12)
  • Girl must have passed Class 12 from:
    • Uttarakhand Board
    • Other State Boards
    • CBSE
    • ICSE
    • National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)
  • Application window: July to November of the same year in which she passes Class 12.
  • Application submitted in the next year will not be considered.
  • The girl must be unmarried at the time of application.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for Nanda Gaura Yojana, the applicant must fulfill the following conditions:
  • Must be a permanent resident of Uttarakhand
  • Family income should not exceed ₹6,000 per month OR family must belong to BPL category
  • Benefit limited to two girl children per family
  • Application for birth benefit must be submitted within 6 months
  • For second installment, the girl must have passed Class 12
  • Girl must be unmarried at the time of second installment claim

Mandatory Affidavit Requirement

The parent/guardian must submit an affidavit declaring:
  • All provided information is correct
  • Benefit is being claimed for first/second daughter only
  • No facts are concealed
  • Bank account details of family have been disclosed
  • In case of Class 12 claim, the girl is unmarried

Special Provision

Girls residing in:
  • Nari Niketan
  • Balika Niketan
  • Orphanages
  • Other state government-aided homes
are exempted from submitting domicile certificate, income certificate, birth certificate, and parental details when applying after Class 12.

Applicants must submit certified copies of:
  • Permanent Residence (Domicile) Certificate
  • Family Register Copy (Parivar Register Nakal)
  • Institutional/Hospital Delivery Certificate
  • Birth Registration Certificate
  • Income Certificate
  • Aadhaar Card of parents/guardian
  • Certificate issued by Anganwadi Worker
  • MCP Card / Immunization Card
  • Bank Passbook copy (Mother/Father/Guardian)
If both parents are deceased, documents of the legally valid guardian will be accepted.

For Second Installment (After Class 12)
Applicants must submit:
  • Permanent Residence Certificate
  • Income Certificate
  • Class 12 Marksheet & Passing Certificate
  • Date of Birth Certificate
  • Family Register Copy
  • Ration Card
  • Aadhaar Card
  • Bank Passbook of Girl Child
  • Principal-issued Class 12 Passing Certificate
  • Self-attested Marksheet (especially for NIOS or other recognized boards)

Latest Update - Installment Transfer (2025-26)

On 26 February 2026, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami transferred ₹145.9 crore directly into the bank accounts of 33,251 beneficiaries through DBT.
Breakdown:
  • 5,913 newborn girls received ₹11,000 each
  • 27,338 girls received ₹51,000 after passing Class 12
This financial assistance supports higher education and helps reduce gender inequality in the state.
