Women mentioned as the head of the household in Antyodaya, BPL and APL ration cards distributed by the Food and Civil Supplies Department are eligible beneficiaries under the scheme, subject to the applicable conditions. - Her name must be mentioned as the head of the household in an eligible Antyodaya, BPL or APL ration card.
- If there is more than one woman in a family, only one woman can avail of the scheme benefit.

The 32nd instalment under the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme was released, taking the total amount credited to each woman beneficiary to ₹64,000 at that stage. Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar released ₹2,443 crore required for the latest instalment. The amount was transferred directly to eligible beneficiaries' bank accounts through DBT.According to the government update associated with the 32nd instalment, the state government had spent ₹1,46,443 crore on various guarantee schemes. The ₹64,000 figure represents the total assistance reported after the 32nd instalment and should not be treated as the current cumulative amount for every beneficiary in 2026.
Guidelines to Prevent Payments to Deceased Beneficiaries
The Karnataka Government has been revising the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme to ensure that benefits reach eligible beneficiaries and to prevent payments to deceased or otherwise ineligible beneficiaries.According to the government data provided in the update, 1,95,224 beneficiaries registered under the Gruha Lakshmi Scheme had died, and around ₹115 crore had been credited to their accounts. The government has also been reviewing the Gruha Jyothi Scheme to prevent free electricity provided under the scheme from being used for commercial purposes.
